We ran the upper bayou this week with the river up around 1,920 cfs and stained from the rain. The bass pulled in tight to the cypress knees and laydowns — pitching a black-and-blue jig right against the wood got the bites, and a spinnerbait kept moving fish through the dirty water. Bream are stacked in the shade if you drop a cricket under a cork. Get out early — it's hot by ten and the storms have been building most afternoons.
