Water's up and stained after the rain — bass pushed tight to the cypress knees and laydowns. Best bite's early before the heat and the afternoon storms roll in.

What’s working

Black-and-blue jig pitched to the cypress kneesSpinnerbait through the stained waterCrickets under a cork for bream
We ran the upper bayou this week with the river up around 1,920 cfs and stained from the rain. The bass pulled in tight to the cypress knees and laydowns — pitching a black-and-blue jig right against the wood got the bites, and a spinnerbait kept moving fish through the dirty water. Bream are stacked in the shade if you drop a cricket under a cork. Get out early — it's hot by ten and the storms have been building most afternoons.
